The picture size (or aspect ratio) of a programme is set by the broadcaster and cannot be changed directly from your box. Some older programmes are shown in a square image (aspect ratio 4:3) as opposed to widescreen because that is the format they were produced in. In this instance you may see black bars either side of the picture if using a widescreen TV. We show you the picture as the broadcaster intended it to be viewed.
Some TV’s will let you change the aspect ratio of your picture, for example, to widescreen (16:9), square (4:3) or stretch using your TV remote control.
Have a look at your TV manual to find out to manually change aspect ratio if this function is available.
